I always loved running... it was something you could do by yourself, and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs. Most people don't understand running. I don't blame them. The concept of it all is rather bewildering. I near forgot the implicit joy that comes when my feet strike the road. My faith and love for running was renewed tonight as it was the first time i had picked up my nikes since the "incident". Being terrified of something you have a passion for is a serious judo chop to the solar plexus, if you will. But fear is only as deep as the mind allows and thus i am done running from my love.
Recipe for shin splints: kick off your shoes, head for the park and run till your lungs feel like they are going to blow to kingdom come. Highly enjoyable.
